February 11th, 2023 – I was asked to come play in Hanoi to help celebrate a Burns Night with a local Whiskey club.
I played many of the usual parts of a bagpiper at a Burns Night:
- Play outside to welcome the guests arriving
- Lead the guests into the ballroom
- Pipe in the haggis, through the tables
- Play Auld Lang Syne at the end of the evening
Bagpiping with a singer
For this event, I played Auld Lang Syne together with a singer, Sara. It was absolutely delightful!
Normally, I play it on my own, or with other pipers. This was my first time to play for a singer.
Great success, very kind scheduling
The event was a great success, and had even the most people at the event than they had ever had before. The food and drinks were delicious, and as written above, I played Auld Lang Syne with Sara towards the end of the evening. The organizers were very kind that they scheduled my last “duty” before the end of the night so that I could also enjoy a variety of the whiskey they had available. Such kind gentlemen!
