June Wedding in Bangkok

June Wedding in Bangkok

June 10th, I had the opportunity to play for Roddy and his bride at their wedding in Bangkok. The weather was nice, and there was sunshine on the day for the ceremony at Mellow Garden.

This was after playing the King’s Coronation celebration party, link here.

I was first introduced to Roddy, the groom, through my friend Dan that runs the Londoner Brewpub. Roddy’s father is a Scotsman that had spent a number of years in various universities before making in to Thailand.

Marching in the Bride for a June Wedding in Bangkok

For the ceremony, I was the music to lead in the bride. For a nice regal tune, I chose to play Highland Cathedral.

Coming in from the side, the bagpipes were heard first, and I was followed by the bridesmaids. Then came the beautiful bride, Som-o. We came in through the side, and then up the small aisle to stage at the front. From there, I stepped aside for the remainder of the ceremony.

After the pronouncements, I was tasked with playing a more upbeat marching tune, so chose a crowd favorite: Scotland the Brave.

“I love to play bagpipes, and am always looking for more opportunities to play… preferably where pipes would be welcome. And legal, too”
