Saturday and Sunday, November 23rd and 24th, the Asian Gaelic Games were held in Bangkok. Teams from Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, and even India came to Bangkok to compete in hurling, and Gaelic Football and Hurling. The organizers, Thailand Gaelic Games (Thailand GAA Facebook Link). This was my 2nd opportunity for bagpiping the Asian Gaelic Games.

Field of Athletes and Bagpiping the Asian Gaelic Games in Bangkok

Like in 2024,* I marched the athletes onto the field playing a few marches. Once I was settled in the middle of the field and the athletes were in a line, I played the Irish national anthem, Amhrán na bhFiann.

I must have played it well, as I received many compliments, and the spectators would not let my hand go without a can of beer.

Bagpiping the Asian Gaelic Games 2024

Unlike the performance in 2024:
1, I played solo without my friend Chan.
2, my marching was a bit slower than usual, as I was still wearing a knee brace. I had surgery for a torn tendon about 2 weeks ago, and the brace was put on to prevent the knee from bending. Makes for some rather interesting marching and bagpiping the Asian Gaelic Games.
